Email has become incredibly important to the small business entrepreneur today. In fact, the dramatic rise in popularity of devices like the Blackberry and other hand held devices are proof enough of that fact. People have become so addicted to their email, they can't seem to bear the thought of being without it.
Why are these devices so addictive?
The small business owner does not want to be out of reach by e-mail... or be without their calendar for more than even a couple of hours these days. Since many small businesses don't have the ability to share files efficiently with others, Email has also become their business' filing cabinet... making it even more important that it should be.
Now, take the importance of e-mail, and combine it with folders full of contacts, a calendar, reminders, tasks and more. Also, add-in the ability to use a full-sized monitor, the speed of a full computer and a normal keyboard and it starts to become easy to see how programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and more become a key piece of any business person's life today.
