Here is another ground breaking and awesome news and article reading iPhone app! Just when I thought I knew of all the free and amazing reading apps, I came across an article and found another one! With lots of overlaps in articles and news between Zite and other previously recommended reading apps, you might find it quite a headache to choose which app to read first. Nevertheless, I think it's always good to have plenty of choices so that you can choose the best interface and contents that suit your personal taste. Personally, I have all of them in my iPhone and I usually read through all of them as I can't get enough of informative articles that are interesting and useful.

Interface

Like Flipboard and Pulse News, Zite has an interfaced focused on readability and simplicity. Each of these apps have their own design and style in making their news and articles reading extremely pleasing to the eye. If you didn't have time to use all the apps in a single day, the preference of interface could be the ultimate deciding factor that determines the choice of app that you will read from. Yes, many of us might feel that content is way more important than the interface. As long as content is gold, who cares about the interface? I do agree that the content is of the utmost importance but I highly value the design of the interface as well. With a better designed interface, it can actually helps to motivate you to read and enjoy the news and articles more. Hence, yes, content is more important but I feel that a well designed interface is equally important too!

One major difference in Zite that I noticed is it's range of available categories to choose from. It has group many different channels of articles and news into a few broad categories. Therefore, unlike in other news app, you do not have as much freedom to select more specific categories of news and articles to read from. This is a big lacking factor for intensive news reading users as they would take more time to browse through the categories to look for the articles that they are interested in. However, for less intensive newsreaders, this simplified categorization process will bring more convenience to them. In addition, the simplified categorization is also due to Zite's focus on more quality content. Unlike other news app, all of Zite's content are of decent quality.

Yes! It has a like and DISLIKE button! In Zite, you can like/dislike an article by giving it a thumbs up/down like the Thumbs iPhone app. Moreover, it also allows you to share the article through email, twitter or facebook. By linking your account in Zite with readitlater or google reader, you can save articles that you want and read them later.
