Free Your Emotions With Forgiveness and Authenticity
How do we reclaim that power?
Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a healing tool that is a gift you give to yourself. It is not about saying the other person is right or condoning their actions but about saying that you will not stay attached to that person through a cord of anger and resentment.
Thus, forgiving is not about forgetting but truly about accepting and letting go.
It is about learning the lesson involved with the pain that other person caused-and also taking responsibility for your own role in the pain.
The greatest obstacle I have seen in my work of life coaching is that sometimes individuals get so stuck on blaming others for their pain, for the perceived unfairness of it all, that they simply cannot let go. They form an energetic bond with the person who has hurt them such that they cannot move on to engage new relationships or situations.
This forgiveness exercise can help you reclaim the energy in power that goes into maintaining anger and resentment.
Sit quietly in a room and visualize the person or situation that has caused you pain.
Simply feel into the pain and see that pain as a cord of energy between you and the person.
As you see that cord as tangible gray energy, moving and alive, consciously cut the cord and say to the person or situation: "I let go of your power over me-and while I may still feel pain or sadness-I will not have my thoughts return to you in anger, but instead will put my thoughts forward on the new situations or people in my life that will create joy and honor."
It may take performing this exercise several times a day for a few weeks to fully let go. Each person comes to that state of forgiveness and acceptance at different rates.
Forgiving does not mean that you have to let the people who hurt you back into your life or welcome encounters with them, especially if they have toxic behaviors. Forgiving simply means you hold no harsh or negative energy towards the person and truly accept and feel the pain and all its aspects cleanly-it means that you do not let the pain stop you from moving on to new experiences with new people or situations with an open heart and spirit.
Walk Your Talk
When we are authentic in our walk we fully claim our personal power. Why? We lose energy each time we suppress the potential of our spirit with behaviors that are counter to who we are.
When you are surrounded by people who are authentic, honest and who are living what they talk, you feel naturally uplifted and encouraged to also rise to that higher vibration.
Yet, if you are surrounded by people who are struggling with being authentic, you will tend to feel tired, depleted, and uninspired to fully express the potential of all you are when you are around them.
So, step up and challenge yourself to new levels of authenticity-of truly developing behaviors that reflect what you really feel and desire in the world. For honesty and authenticity are truly two of the most empowering attributes to possess.
