St Andrews may currently be languishing under a foot of snow but it has been an epic year for the Home of Golf. And to help them celebrate it and look forward to the future, I was privileged to have been invited to edit the official St Andrews Links Trust Yearbook 2011.
The large head of TaylorMade R9 Super Tri Driver is more forgiving, and its centre of gravity is two millimetres further back in the head than the r9 making it easier to launch the ball higher and with more spin. The inclusion of MWT with three weights promotes a side-to-side trajectory change of up to 75 yards.
It has been a labour of love during spare time away from my duties as Editor of Golfmagic.com and reflects a magical year on the links which hosted both The 150th Open Championship, won by South African Louis Oosthuizen and the Dunhill Links won by Europe's No.1 golfer Martin Kaymer.
In special features both talk about how much St Andrews means to them, as do many of the world's other top players, including Ryder Cup lieutenant Paul McGinley who offers his own secrets of the Old Course. The book also shows you how to play the shots you need to handle the Open venue, courtesy of director of instruction at the Links Trust Academy, Steve North.
The history of Taylormade R9 Max Driver TYPE E destination and previous winners of The Open, behind the scenes with the Old Course greenkeepers, how to get that exclusive tee time, the top ten 'must do' goals when visiting the town and an exclusive review of the Castle course are also feature in the Yearbook.
And if you order now in time for Christmas, limited copies are available with a FREE sleeve of St Andrews Special edition Callaway golf balls.
The 460cc head of the Taylormade Burner SuperFast Driver 2010 is sleeker and more aerodynamic than the previous Burner driver, allowing it to slip through the air more efficiently and help you swing the club faster. At the same time, the face of the SuperFast is the largest TaylorMade has ever produced, which should help maintain ball speed across a larger hitting area and increase forgiveness.
The Burner SuperFast comes standard with a 46.5-inch Matrix Ozik XCon 4.8 shaft, which is both extremely light and soft in the tip. That combination should help launch drives on a higher trajectory with more spin, which should improve carry distance for slower-swinging players.
