If you're a freelance writer and you're not involved in social networking, ie, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook - learn. You broaden your skill set, which allows you to offer the service to clients.

Many clients have a "just handle it" attitude when it comes to new media services like social networking, SEO copywriting, pay per click marketing, etc. Their eyes glaze over and they just want to outsource it and be done with it.

Less Competition from Other Freelance Writers

Another thing about offering new media services is that it lessens the competition because there are fewer freelance writers who choose to offer these services.

Market Every Day: Make marketing for freelance writing jobs the first thing you do every day. Even if it's just sending out five email queries, or posting a simple ad on Craigslist.

If you get in the habit of consistently marketing, freelance writing gigs will seem to magically appear. But, it's not magic. It's simply the law of averages.
