French Door Refrigerators: Functional Design

French door refrigerators have become an instant hit on the market

. These appliances combine the design of standard refrigerators with a bit of a modern twist. So with a pinch of practicality and another dash of adaptability you have the perfect fridge.

Like side by side refrigerators, the French door model features a dual door design. The difference in this type of design is that the two doors enclose the refrigerator section of the appliance while the bottom section is a pullout freezer drawer. Although a freezer both fresh and frozen goods can be stored successfully. With slender doors that extend unusually high above floor level this stylish design allows for those tighter spots. The French door model certainly makes for a desirable design fitting all size kitchens.

The benefit of a dual door design on a French door model is much the same as on a side by side refrigerator. You can have features like an in-door ice and water dispenser. Not forgetting the TV in the panel of the fridge. However, allowing these features may also take away from your storage space inside the refrigerator so keep that in mind.

Capacity is an important area when considering buying a fridge. French door models have been noted for their large width. With such a broad width many large items can be stored in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments. As a whole the design requires a smaller amount of exterior space to be used even with maximum use of storage. Much space is saved due to the insert of the bottom freezer instead of full length refrigerator doors. Due to the versatility of the French door model it is now possible to have a counter depth refrigerator. With so many advantages the extra 5 to 6 inches makes it almost a dream.

This practical yet functional French door refrigerator is occasionally referred to as a bottom freezer mount refrigerator or a double door. Such designs allow for maximum storage space and the increase in work area. With a unique design its no wonder most people want to take it home with them.
