The perfectly white sand of the Mediterranean beaches have been restored. Numerous new car ramps have been installed to assure easier access to the beaches for handicapped individuals. Nikki Beach Opens Soon

World-famous Nikki Beach in Saint Tropez is set to open on May 31, right after the Cannes International Film Festival, which is scheduled from May 16 to May 27. Robert Patterson and Kristen Stewart each have entries in the festival. Competition is always fierce at this festival. If you are looking for free beaches near the Cannes International Film Festival, try the Plage du Midi or the Plage Gazagnaire.

July Nice Jazz Festival

A great time to go to Nice is during the Nice Jazz Festival, scheduled from July 8 thru July 12 on the grounds of a Roman ruin. Since its inception in 1948, this festival has been known as the largest and most glamorous jazz festival in all of Europe. Visitors can enjoy many parades in the city, along with music on eight different stages. While at the festival, visitors will also enjoy visiting the Hotel Regina where Queen Victoria spent her long vacations to the French Riviera. Visitors can also visit the Cimiez Monastery and the burial places of Henri Matisse, Raoul Dufy and Roger Martin du Gard. Nice offers 15 private beaches. One of the best is the Castel Plage.

Another great time to visit Cannes is during the Les Plages Electronqiues Festival held on each Thursday in July and the first two Thursdays of August. About 55,000 people attended last year. This is the only festival in France to actually occur on the beach. While at Cannes, make sure to notice the architecture of Le Suquet and eat at the March Forville. Some of the best beaches in Cannes include the Carlton Hotel Beach and those near les de Lrins. Also be sure to catch one of the spectacular firework shows above the water.
