With Christmas fast approaching, 47 sleeps from today my little annoying iphone app tells me, it's time to get thinking about buying gifts and getting ideas to prettify your home. Maybe you intend on getting the same old Christmas decorations out and buying the same old gifts from the main high street shops. These is all very well but why not try something different this Christmas and actually buy presents that someone will appreciate all year round.

The French country style has a relaxed and charming feel to it which could give your family a relaxed and stress free Christmas. They say your surroundings to have a say on how you feel, so this year why not try and go for a French style Christmas. To decorate your tree in this style you could add some glass ornaments in primary colours. Don't overdo it though as less is more. Why not try some French tablecloths and placemats with the traditionally designs such as sunflowers or lavender. Iron accessories also add that touch of French feel. There are candle stick holders, baskets, wall hangings which will do the job.

Because France is thought of as the worlds centre for charm and sophistication why not by French gifts for your friends rather than the normal high street gifts. You don't even have to leave your home as there are many shops online selling just French gifts. You could create a little basket of gifts for your friends. Get a wicker basket and fill it with beautiful handmade gifts including French Jewellery, bath and beauty products. France is famous for capturing the essence of Nature's fragrant flowers and have a special understanding of excellent perfumes and other gift items.

Cooking fans will love all the Provencal pottery that is available. Hand painted brightly coloured ceramics really add a nice touch to your dining table presentation and would be greatly received as gifts. Don't just prettify your home with the French style feel, share it among your friends and make this Christmas a real French treat.
