Question: How often should you change your Diatomaceous Earth Hayward pool filter cartridge?

Answer: All D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) filters should be cleaned thoroughly (backwashed) and changed once for every season of use.

Question: What are the different types of pool filters?

Answer: There are three main types: D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) filters, Cartridge filters, and Sand filters. They range in price from D.E. being the most expensive (and most effective), to Cartridge filters falling in the mid-price range, and sand filters being the cheapest filters (but they do not filter the water as effectively as the other types). Answer: Yes, at least once a year. If your pool is used for more than one season of the year, you should backwash the pool filter every season (spring, summer, fall, etc.).

Question: I have a 25-year-old pool, and my pool filter doesn't do a good job. Will it make a bigger difference if I get a higher quality filter or if I upgrade to a larger filter?

Answer: Although the quality of the filter is important, ultimately the largest factor in pool cleanliness is the size of your filter. During the 1980s, pool companies commonly installed pool filtration systems that were much too small for the pool. If this is the case with you, you will notice a huge difference in water quality if you upgrade to a larger filter size.
