From One Veteran To Another

A stair lift is something that many people would greatly benefit from when they get into their later years

. It would make them more mobile in their own home, make them safer in their own home, and give their families peace of mind that they will not be at further risk of having an accident caused by the stairs. Stair lifts come with many different features that are suitable for all different types of people, as well as different shapes to fit every type of staircase no matter how complex they may be.

However for many is it is not possible to get a stair lift as they are very expensive and many cannot afford it, although there are different funds available from local councils as well as other rewards available that one can apply for.

This obstacle of cost was overcome by a heartfelt story in America where an old couple passed away and through the joint efforts of family, friends and a local non profit agency, the stair lift was given to another couple who were in desperate need of such a piece of equipment. The couple had used the stair lift to access their basement as the staircase was very steep and dangerous for the old couple. The new couple who lived on the other side of the interstate were really in need of a stair lift. William had recently broke his hip and was wheelchair bound, and Margaret was suffering from knee complications. They were having a lot of trouble with the stairs in their house and it was having a real impact on their home life. They were looking into buying a stair lift but it was just too expensive for their budget.

It worked out perfectly as the staircases in both houses happened to be the exact same size so no adjustment needed to be made. Furthermore the non profit agency usually only help kids, however they made an exception on this occasion, the couple really struck gold on this occasion!

Both men fought in the Korean War and it was a mere coincidence that the stair lift found its new home with a fellow Korean War Veteran. It makes the story much more touching that one serviceman continues to help another even over 50 years after the war was over.

The stair lift will be transported across town and should hopefully be installed before the family will celebrate Christmas this year, what a great present to receive!
