Frozen Popsicles:5 Tips

There is no treat quite like a refreshing Popsicle for a hot summer day

. Sometimes, though, you just do not want to leave the house, and all those store brands are packed with too much sugar anyway. Why not save yourself some stress and an unnecessary trip by using ingredients that you already have around your house to make your own delicious homemade Popsicles? This little guide will tell you what you need and show you systematically how to create these tantalizing fruity treats.

1. The first step is to gather your supplies. Note: This guide assumes you have a freezer in your house or apartment! Other than that crucial appliance, you will need a plastic ice cube tray, several sheets of aluminum foil, and a handful of small Popsicle sticks. For this project, try to use the skinniest sticks you can find, since ice cubes are not too big!

2. Locate all fruit juices you have in your refrigerator. This is where you get to be creative: Mix and match your favorite juices to create the ultimate Popsicle flavor blend. Juices like orange, apple, and grapefruit mix together very well. Alternatively, you may very well have some prepackaged blends of your own. You might try strawberry orange banana, or orange peach mango, to really blow your taste buds away.

3. Take out your ice tray and place it on a table that you do not mind getting a few little juice spills on. If you are a neat freak, make sure to put down a towel or else you are going to have some sticky upholstery! Next, take your juice blend and pour it evenly into each cube pocket.

4. Once you have your juice poured, take a sheet of aluminum foil and carefully place it on top of the ice cube tray. Fold down the edges so that the foil has a strong hold on the ice cube container.

5. Poke a hole through the aluminum foil with one of the Popsicle sticks so that it sits about halfway submerged into the juice below (you will have to guess a little here). Repeat this for the rest of the sixteen or so ice cube pockets. Carefully place into the freezer.

You will have to wait a few hours for your concoction to be ready, but it is well worth it when you do. Nothing is more refreshing than coming inside after a long hot day outside and popping a cool ice-cube sized Popsicle into your mouth. Enjoy!
