Fujifilm Finepix Sl300 Camera Review

Fujifilm Finepix SL300 is a great bridge camera particularly for its price

. I give it 4.5 stars for it's capabilities for what it is. Folks who expect to get the capabilities of the DSLR with a 720mm telephoto lens are going to be disappointed; despite its looks, this camera isn't an DSLR. It is a bridge camera and as it fulfils its task well.Overall, it is a decent camera for the price. The 2 features I love the most would be the 30x Optical zoom and the HD video.The optical zoom really allows you to get up-close to far away objects. The HD video is obviously a nice feature. It doesn't go as high as full HD, but it is still acceptable.

A bridge camera is midway between a point-and-shoot and a DSLR. In other words, it's superior to a compact point-and-shoot as it has more functions (providing you with additional control) and a better lens. It's however more bulky and often more costly (but definitely not in this case).Versus a DSLR, a bridge camera does not have numerous functions, as good an image sensor or access to high-quality interchangeable lenses.

I recommend this camera a lot. It has a decent lens with a zoom that is the equivalent of 24-720mm on a regular 35mm camera. A 24mm is a pretty wide angle and a 720mm lens is the equal to one those huge lenses you see photographers carry at sports events.

Modes: Multiple modes like the general auto, scene recognition auto, panorama and custom. Scene recognition has a ton of modes: portrait, landscape, fireworks, night, snow, etc.Furthermore it includes aperture priority, shutter priority and manual modes. It has the usual LED panel in the back plus an EVF (electronic view finder). The EVF is the digital version of the optical viewfinder. If you look at either, it's WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). There's a little lag while using EVF but I'm very glad they included one because after 4-5 digicams I still don't like looking at the LED panel. With the EVF you'll be able to look through it like you're aiming it.

Image quality: Two resolutions (fine and normal), sizes L, M and S and every with screen ratios of 4:3 to 16:9. For my 8GB card I could take 800+ pictures at the best quality to 6000+ at the lowest quality. On the higher resolutions a regular 4 X 6 print looks great. Only if you stretch the capacity of the camera, say the highest of zooms at the low resolution, does the picture look blurry, however for regular usage it's fine.

Like every digital cameras nowadays it includes video capacity but I'm only using this as a camera so I didn't reviewed it. Top notch for this type of lens. Zooms, especially those with a big range won't have the best performance. Expect less than ideal performance at 30x zoom under less than perfect conditions, it's normal.
