Fun for all ages: Leisure Village Waterpark, Mauritius

Despite being 2nd on this list of top honeymoon destinations, Mauritius holidays also offer a family playground with lots of hotels and attractions for the young and old.

Not least is the Leisure Village Waterpark. A day here is sure to create smiling faces, lots of family fun and tired children by the end of the day! That might be just what you're after esecially seeing as there are plenty of sunbeds for you to recline on whilst they expel their energy in the pools!

Located near Belle Mare on the east coast of Mauritius, this is the only waterpark on the island and has become hugely popular with families because of its many waterslides, pools and amusements spread over 25 acres of sun-strewn land. and its not tacky or commercialised either.

While the younger ones enjoy the shallow splash areas, the mushroom shower and friendly water cannons, the older kids and even the adults can enjoy the thrill of the mountain skull, water-chutes and (for the very brave) the black hole!

Among all these thrilling slides, the enormous wave pool is a must and if you get time to relax the lazy river allows you float around the whole park at your leisure.

The host of activities and slides here will keep the children and adults busy all day, don't forget the Jacuzzi, games corner and paradise cove before heading to grab lunch at some of the fast food outlets or at the main restaurant, serving family excellent dining options.

The park is open all year round but during peak season the waterpark also holds special events in the 1000-seater Pirate's Plaza auditorium and several shops open selling souvenirs and gifts.

One word of advice make sure you and the kids wear footwear around the park as the floor gets very hot!

If family fun is your priority while holidaying in Mauritius the waterpark should not be missed! Nearby hotels include the Beau Rivage Hotel, with a separate children's pool and activities club and the brand new, luxurious Long Beach Resort.
