Fungi Found Near Paphos Town

Well known as being the birthplace for the goddess Aphrodite according to Greek Mythology

, Paphos now has new source of income aside from tourism. The income based on the truffle findings won't last forever but will certainly add an extra boost to people pockets. Winter truffles can be worth between 650 and 1000 Euros per kilo which gives you an idea of their important. Unfortunately the findings aren't edible, but regardless this is a great little discovery as far as Paphos is concerned.

Truffles aren't exactly going to boost the numbers flocking to the shores of Paphos this summer or next, though it's not as if it needs such a boost because tourists already hold the Cypriot coastal town in high regard as it is.

If it isn't growing truffles in Limestone, then it's serving fantastic seafood in one of its fantastic top quality restaurants on an evening. While many of us are more accustomed to fish and chips in a polystyrene container you can enjoy a similar dish on a plate whilst tasting oh so fresh. A variety of dishes can be found on most menus, some might turn your stomach while other will have you licking your lips.

The beach is where anybody really wants to spend their time on holiday abroad and as you might expect there is one to enjoy in Paphos. The golden sandy beaches of the east coast of Cyprus are certainly the place to enjoy and relax as the Mediterranean sun works its magic. There's nothing better than working up a bit of sun burn and heat stroke before heading out on the town to the various bars where you can swig down all kinds of different coloured cocktails to help soothe the pain.

While Paphos remains a holiday town there are plans afoot to build a highway between it and Polis. The public are keen for the option of easier travelling methods, as are most businesses, but it appears the holdup is the finance. It's unclear how long it will take to guarantee funding for the project, but it does seem that things will go ahead at one point or another.

Paphos is a town on the up in more ways than one and it would make sound advice to visit sooner rather than in a few years time because this new highway could see the coastal gem turn into a modern city losing its cultural holiday charm.
