During warmer weather, you will probably find my family outdoors. We are blessed to live within walking distance of an awesome bike path. (Thank you Ohio for your Rails to Trails program.) On the weekend, our family loves to explore state parks by geocaching and letterboxing. One of my ongoing dilemmas is what to do with my keys and cell phones while we are out hiking. This past summer, I started carrying around a small backpack. However that isn't always convenient. I can't even count the number of times my backpack got caught on tree branches. Ugh!

I was recently made aware of Kahava bags and was glad to get the chance to review one. It looked like just the perfect thing to carry my keys and cell phone when out on the bike path or in the woods. Kahava bags were created by a dad whose daughter has a severe peanut allergy. It was created out of the need to have somewhere to store epi-pens in case his daughter had an allergic reaction while they were out.

Kahava Bags are worn like a sash. The first thing I noticed was that they have plenty of little storage spots for anything I might need to carry. There are 2 pockets on the front which are just perfect for cell phones or mp3 players (or GPS units in our case). One pocket has a clear window. This will be the spot my cell phone occupies. I love that there is no need to remove the phone from the pocket to see who is calling. It's quite convenient! The second pouch has a longer flap. I would feel quite secure putting my keys in there, even if I were jogging. The flaps on the front two pouches are secured by sturdy velcro so I think there isn't much danger of things falling out, even when I am tramping through the woods.

Another feature I like is the 2 inside zipper pockets. If you need to carry a drivers license or some money, this is where I would stash it. No one would have any idea those two pockets were there. The sash itself is adjustable and has a nonslip material lining where it will rest on your shoulder. It is quite comfortable to wear. It is short enough that it shouldn't get in the way while bicycling.

I really like how the Kahava is made from sturdy canvas. I won't have to worry about it ripping if I catch it on something in the woods. While it is cold and dreary now, I am definitely going to be putting my new Kahava to use once the weather warms.
