(www.GAOResearch.com) is offering its G.728 LD-CELP vocoder which implements the low delay code-excited linear prediction (LD-CELP) speech compression technique specified in the ITU-T standard. It is suitable for many applications including digital circuit multiplication equipment, video conferencing, digital telephony and multimedia products.

The software encodes 5 sample frames of 16-bit linear PCM data into 10-bit code words. It provides approximately 4 kHz of speech bandwidth. Using backward-adaptive linear predictive coding analysis, it is able to achieve a low trans-coding delay of 2 ms. It runs on most commercially available DSPs/microprocessors and most popular real time operating systems.

The ITU-T G.728 standard specifies the encoding of 8 kHz sampled speech signals for transmission over a 16 kbps channel. This recommendation contains the description of an algorithm for the coding of speech signals at 16 kbps using low-delay code excited linear prediction (LD-CELP).

This G.728 LD-CELP Vocoder belongs to GAO's family of Speech Vocoders. This line includes a wide variety of speech vocoders for speech processing software and audio processing codecs, such as G.729, G.729A and G.729AB Speech Vocoder which are based on Code Excited Linear Prediction Model (CELP) and Conjugate-Structure Algebraic CELP (CS-ACELP) and can be used in visual telephony, wireless communications, and digital satellite communication systems, G.726 Vocoder which converts a 64 Kbps A-law or -law PCM channel to or from a 40, 32, 24 or 16 Kbps channel. The conversion is applied to the PCM bit stream using an ADPCM trans-coding technique, and other similar products.
