GATE-2011 Success Mantra Understand the Basics and Know their Applicability

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted by the seven IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and IISc (Indian Institute of Science), Bengaluru.

It is an all India examination for admission to Master's program in engineering in the best engineering colleges and institutes in the country.

GATE is held to assess the potential of undergraduate engineering students, to pursue higher education in engineering. It is an evaluative test to determine the possession of skills by students and aptitude for engineering for further studies.

This year Indian Institute of Technology Madras is the Organising Institute for GATE 2011.

Examination Schedule

GATE 2011 Examination will include both ONLINE and OFFLINE examinations as per the following schedule:

Online Examination Date is January 30, 2011 (Sunday).

Offline Examination Date is February 13, 2011 (Sunday).

Online Examination Time for CG and TF Papers at 09.00 AM 12.00 PM

Online Examination Time for AE and MN Papers at 02.00 PM 5.00 PM

Offline Examination Time for AR, BT, CE, CH,CS, ME, PH and PI Papers at 09.00 AM 12.00 PM

Offline Examination Time for AG, CY, EC, EE, IN, MA, MT, XE and XL Papers at 02.00 PM 5.00 PM

Important Dates :

Commencement of sale of Information Brochure and Application Form : Tuesday September 21, 2010

Commencement of Online Application Form submission : Tuesday September 21, 2010

Last date for issue of Information Brochure and Application Form

At bank counters : Wednesday October 27, 2010

At zonal GATE office counters : Friday October 29, 2010

Last date for :

Submission of Online Application Form (website closure) : Wednesday October 27, 2010.

Receipt of completed Offline/Online Application Form at respective zonal GATE Office : Tuesday November 02, 2010.

Announcement of results : Tuesday March 15, 2011.

GATE 2011 score is valid for TWO YEARS from the date of announcement of the GATE 2011 results.
