In the medical field there is a lot of things that can cause a stir

. However, there is perhaps nothing more personal to the doctors of the medical field than cancer. They have all been affected by it in many ways. The reason that this is perhaps more personal than any other disease is because they have had more family members affected by it than any other disease. It is not a straight forward ordeal for them.

When a patient comes to see them there is usually a prescribed method to diagnose and treat that disease in order for that patient to be made better. With cancer, there is often nothing that can be done with that kind of certainty. It is out of their control and doctors are very much used to being in control.

That is perhaps why they like the gamma camera. This invention has helped them to fight off breast cancer by detecting tumors much sooner. The difference between the gamma camera and its ability to detect cancer and the more traditional mammogram machine is that the nuclear gamma camera is able to detect it much sooner and yet cost much the same as the traditional mammogram machine.

Some of the basics of the gamma camera are that it operates based on nuclear science. Before you have pictures taken with a gamma camera, you are asked to drink a solution that actually contains a low level amount of radiation. This radiation in your body allows the camera to work properly.

One of the main things that the women prefer about the gamma camera is that it is much more comfortable than the older, more traditional mammogram machine. The old machine sandwiched the breast between two camera plates in order to get the camera to take a picture that was clean enough to be able to determine anything worth any value.

In the past doctors could use an MRI machine to get a look at the inside of the breast and get even better pictures than the gamma camera gives now, but they rarely did because of two issues. One, those who would get an MRI find it inconvenient to go to the hospital on a separate appointment. Another reason that they would not use it is the cost. It is simply too costly to get some pictures with an MRI machine.

The gamma camera is small enough to fit in the doctor's office, thus making it convenient. The cost is nearly the same as a traditional mammogram machine. This has made it one of the most used medical devices.

The next time that you go to the doctor's office, consider all of the equipment that you see in the office. Consider how much time has gone into creating that piece of equipment so that you could enjoy better health. There are a lot of hands that touch the medical field . From the doctors and nurses to the receptionist and the scientist in the labs as well there are just lots of people involved in keep the good health of people.
