Garage doors used for residential structures are pretty much the same with many of the ones used for commercial and industrial buildings and purposes

. While the basic set up of most of these devices are similar, in many cases, the sizes of the ones for commercial and industrial uses are often larger than those used for homes.

Overhead Sectional Units

These are some of the more basic types that are used for residences and for commercial and industrial uses. The unit functions as a panel that is lifted wither manually or automatically (this is more common) and is stored overhead on tracks. Most, if not all of the garage doors of this type used for commercial and industrial purposes are automatically maneuvered.

There are many different types of overhead sectional devices and these include glass sections, insulated, non-insulated, full view aluminum and more. Some makers even make customized units depending on the design and preference of the company that requested it.

Rolling

Roll up garage doors is another type that many establishments and companies favor. This is because the rolling type door system saves a lot of space and can be quite efficient. Many are manually rolled up and down while there are also others that are operated automatically.

Unlike the previous unit described above, these roll up and down door systems are stored overhead in a metal canister-like protuberance. Just like any other mechanical device, maintenance is a must. There are various kinds of rolling door systems made of different materials but the more popular material is metal. There are some with slats to make things visible for those who wish to peep in.

Sliding

These kinds of commercial garage doors need a lot of space since the units themselves just slide to the side to let the vehicle enter or exit. Most of the units slide to the side of a building or storage structure which has limited windows. These are usually automated since they are humungous panels of metal or some other material which may take several people to move.

Caution needs to be exercised when these start moving because they can only be stopped with the use of the control. The operator needs to have a clear view of the entire area to be able to prevent any accidents. Some of the doors have a smaller pedestrian door on it to accommodate people who wish to enter. It saves the door being slid open and close just for a single person.
