Larger products will cover four or five tables, great for a dinner party or even a small wedding reception. Another version of the garden canopy comes with three enclosed sides for greater resistance to wind. Materials are usually polyester or similar, in colors such as green, blue, white, and even red. Edging options are easily found in straight or scalloped styles.

Designs run from basic to fancy. Some garden canopies feature flat tops, though most have a pointed canopy. The canopy legs can be straight, narrow poles built to collapse or fixed semi-permanently to the ground. Splayed legs are said to offer greater wind resistance. Ornate legs provide a wrought-iron look and are wider than the basic garden canopy versions.
