As the temperatures drop around the United Kingdom and the nights draw in, it seems Gas Companies are intent on putting the people of the United Kingdom into further financial difficulty
For most of us in the UK, this year has been a very difficult one. Many of us have lived in fear of losing our jobs, some of us have lost our jobs and all of us have felt the pinch as our finances have been stretched and stretched beyond their limits as our economy remains in absolute turmoil.
The financial misery seems set to continue with further cuts to public services and cuts to the NHS which will no doubt cost lives as well as jobs.
The outlook for the immediate and foreseeable future looks bleak and yet according to recent media reports it seems some Gas Companies are intent on making things even worse.
Despite reporting extremely healthy profits, Gas Companies are about to increase their prices by up to 7% striking fear into the hearts of people who are already struggling to meet their Gas and Electricity Bills and placing the health of the most vulnerable in our society at risk.
We are told that although these companies regret these increases, they are an absolute necessity if we are to continue to explore alternative fuel sources. However, it seems extremely coincidental that these increases are to be made just as winter approaches.
As you read this article there will be families, old people and ill people who are living in very cold conditions because they simply can no longer afford to heat their homes all because some of the Gas Companies are not satisfied with the huge profits that they are already enjoying.
These companies can make such drastic changes to their pricing structure because they control the market and because people have no other alternative other than to keep paying.
These companies also hide behind the fact that few people truly understand their bills and therefore have no idea whether they are paying over the odds
These companies luxuriate in the warmth of huge profits while their customers shiver from cold.
