There are two main classifications of smoke detectors. They are ionization chamber with the smoke detectors and photo electric smoke detectors.

Portable Gas Detectors:

A portable gas detector is usually a small gas detection device than is hand held. The device can be used to test the atmosphere in a small confined space before entering. This device can trace gas leaks and give off a warning of the presence of gas leaks.

Transportable Gas Detectors:

This type of gas detector is not small enough to be a hand held device but the device is constructed so that it is easy to be picked up and moved to another space. This type of device is mostly used to be put in a space where maintenance is being carried out, so that builders and other people working there are protected from gas leaks. This type of portable gas detectors is often used in a space where the detector that usually protects the space is being fixed or checked.

Fixed Gas Detectors:

This type of gas detector is placed and fixed in a room or building where it will permanently protect a property from gas leaks and will give off early warnings of leaks. This type of detector is the best type to use in a home close to gas sources, and most of the time a device that will give off both sound and light signals is usually the best.
