Fresh vegetables and fruits that have not been tampered with are the best option. Certified organic ones are the best for your health because they reduce the toxin levels you are putting into your body. Lean meats without hormones or antibiotics in moderation should also be a staple of your diet if you are not a vegetarian. Vegetarians need to incorporate healthful sources of protein. General health diets are ones that keep food as close to the way it is in nature as possible. The fewer processed foods, the better off you'll be.

Drinking copious amounts of purified water can also help you stay healthy. In the United States, we have massive amounts of toxins in our air, skin care, hygiene, and beautification products, and foods. Flushing out those toxins should be a priority for preserving general health. In addition, exercise is not only good for getting the heart rate up and the muscles toned, but the sweating we do when we exercise helps release more of those toxins as well. Exercise also releases endorphins into the body, causing a general feeling of well-being. This contributes to emotional and mental health. It helps to relieve stress and worry, two emotional states that are linked to diseases.

Because our food is grown in depleted soils and normally has to travel to a supermarket before it reaches our tables, the nutrients are often reduced greatly. Vitamin and mineral supplements can help make up the different and balance out substance levels in the body, promoting general health.
