Geoffrey Rush & Charlotte Rampling

Production work on Australian director Fred Schepsi's latest project "The Eye of the Storm"

, has begun. This is Schepisi's first venture after "Empire Falls" (2005), and is the first film he is shooting in his native country after "A Cry in the Dark" (1988).The film is being produced by Antony Waddington, Gregory Read, and Schepsi himself. The script has been adapted by Judy Morris.

The story is based on the 1973 classic of the same name, written by Nobel Laureate Patrick White, also an Australian. Being specifically mentioned by the Swedish Academy when White won the Nobel Prize for Literature, it is considered one of the author's finest works. The narrative revolves around Elizabeth Hunter, the strong-willed woman who, in the absence of her expatriate children, is kept company by her nurses, her housekeeper, and her advocate. When her children do come and gather around her deathbed, relationships, and what they stand for, must be reconsidered.

The movie will feature Charlotte Rampling as Elizabeth Hunter. An English actress, Rampling has also worked in French and Italian cinema. She is best known for her role in the 1974 film "Il portiere di notte", in which she plays a Nazi concentration camp survivor who comes across the Nazi guard who had once tortured her at the camp. Other notable films in which she acted include "Zardoz" (co-starring Sean Connery), "Farewell, my Lovely", and "Stardust Memories" (with Woody Allen).

Geoffrey Rush will appear in the film as Mrs Hunters son. The actor who started out with theater and debuted in the production of "Wrong Side of the Moon" by the Queensland Theater Company, has won awards like Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award, Theater World Award, the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance, and the coveted Tony Award in 2009. On the silver screen, Geoffrey Rush has been seen in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series as Captain Barbossa.

Judy Davis, who will be playing the role of Mrs Hunters daughter, has appeared on stage and on television in shows like "Life with Judy Garland: Me and my Shadows", "A Passage to India" and "Husbands and Wives".

Other characters in the story would be brought to life by the likes of Alexandra Schepisi, Helen Morse, Colin Friels, and John Gaden.
