Bansko - a fascinating symbiosis of history, tradition and culture. With everything that the visitor finds here - ancient architecture, heroic history, folklore, old culture, preserved traditions and customs, special cuisine, great humor and rich vocabulary mountain, rousing city is a kind of symbol of the Bulgarian.

Bansko municipality comprises the most beautiful part of the majestic Pirin Mountains, parts of the Razlog valley, from the picturesque valley Lily of the ravine and Places Mountain from the Rhodope Mountains.

The municipality of Bansko is 49,621 hectares. The terrain is flat along the river valleys to hilly in the mountainous and foothill area. The climate is transitional-continental with Mediterranean influence, and the higher parts of mountain. Summer is short and cool, and the winter snow, soft and long. Within its boundaries are included reserves "Dupki-Dzhindzhiritsa and Ulen. This small part of paradise includes in itself the venerable spruce-white fir forests, wide pine mountain shrub peaks, deep circuses and emerald lakes. Because of this unique nature Pirin National Park is recognized as a site of world importance and the Order of UNESCO from 1983 is included in the Convention for the Protection of World Heritage. Within the municipality includes the following cities: Bansko and seven villages: Dobrinishte, Locations, Kremen, Obidim, Gostun, and Filipovo Osenovo.

In Dobrinishte is acting ski base with chair lift and ski runs good, taverns and suitable hotel accommodation. The mineral springs in the village grounds for the development of spa tourism. The rest of the Rhodope and Pirin villages in the municipality offer opportunities for rural tourism. Bansko is situated at 925 m altitude. It is 150 km from Sofia, 150 km from Plovdiv, 60 km from Blagoevgrad and 40 km from Gotse Delchev.Connected with them by bus. Railway passes through the municipality Dobrinishte - September, which is connected with railway Sofia Plovdiv line.
