Gestational Stomach Molding

Pregnancy tummy casting molding is an innovative and unique way to memorialize the

phases of maternity, creating a 3D family memorabilia which can be decorated, painted, and displayed as art work as well.

While a few women create at least one stomach molding to remember their pregnancy by, some choose to develop few sculptures so that they can remember the many phases of their maternity. Instead of casting the extended tummy, some choose to have their chest, arms, hands, or another body part they want, to be memorialized in the cast too. A popular position for a belly cast is with the mother's hands covering her pregnant tummy.

A few mothers prefer to celebrate this experience with their the baby's father, while some others think it would be more enjoyable to celebrate it with their girl friends and/or immediate family too. No matter what the case may be, pregnancy belly casting is work for at least 2 folks, more if photographs of the belly casting procedure are desired.

Gestational tummy casting may take a while so ensure the expecting mother is quite comfortable, has been to the washroom, and has something to relieve her thirst close by. Before beginning, the husband must confirm that the work section, ground and seating, is covered with a rag or an old plastic cover.

Grease the parts that will be in the tummy cast with Vaseline or something similar, then overlap the gauze pieces in a criss-cross pattern over the Vaseline. This helps it hold better when it is drying. Let dry for around one half hour then take off the tummy cast for maternity by gently shaking yourself unless it loosens after which your family member can lift it away from the pregnant woman.

Place the gestational stomach molding away for around one or two days. After it is completely set paint a coat of Gesso to prevent environmental destruction. Gesso is a loose form of the mineral calcium-carbonate used by creative people. Gesso can also be used as a paint-primer for the tummy sculpture if the mother wants it colored.

If the body cast is going to be decorated, ensure it has been removed from the expectant mother first. The plaster is not harmful to the skin but dyes in the paint can be harmful to mother and baby. Pregnancy tummy casting can be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved, celebrating joyous moments together with the proud parent/s along with making memories for generations to come. What better way to commemorate a pregnancy!
