Single day hikes
The majority of the single day hikes involve walking along a small part of the Inca trail to the historic ruins at Machu Picchu. These hikes are suitable for anyone who wishes to walk for only one day and if they don't feel able to walk the whole of the Inca trail. Normally, starting from Aguas Calientes, you will cross the Urbamba River and trek up to the site of Machu Picchu having passed the Winay Wayna on the way.
Multi day hikes
The classic hike to take whilst in Peru is the Inca trail. The trail starts next to the Urubamba River and passes several ruins and sights of historical interest before finally making its way up to the famous city of Machu Picchu. Arriving in the city early in the morning you will get an excellent view of the ruins and the sunrise before the tourists and day-trippers arrive.

With white water rafting, canoeing and cycling available these holidays offer a more exciting way to explore the Amazon and the Inca trail. With many different terrains and locations to visit, your only problem will be choosing where, when and for how long you want to visit.
