If you want to know how to deal with a break up and eventually get back with your ex, you need to check with yourself first because it all starts within you. You need to ensure that you are emotionally and mentally ready to face the day without your ex. You have to condition your mind. Be used to the fact that you are not a couple anymore because the more you think about how the two of you should still be together, the more you'll find it hard to get over the pain.

So what do you need to do to get over the pain of a break up?

It is really simple. Let me share with you some easy, creative, and effective steps to do it:


Get rid of the photos. This may sound weird but you need to get rid of them, at least for now. This will allow you to stop thinking about your ex for a while. The reason behind this is as long as you keep on seeing something that reminds you of your ex, the first thing that will come to you is the pain of the break up. If you don't want to throw them yet, at least place them in a box and hide it in your closet.

Learn to cook. If you don't know your way around the kitchen, now would be the best time to do so. You can divert your energy to whipping up meals. Pour your emotions on the dishes you prepare. If you're heart is still terribly bleeding from the wound caused by the break up, cook pasta oozing with dark red tomato sauce-something to that effect. Not only will you be able to take your mind off the pain, you get to learn something new.

Write a poem. Poetry is one very good way of expressing yourself. You can pour your heart out on a piece of paper. If there's something you want to say to your ex but haven't had the opportunity, write them down. Think of your ex while writing a poem.

Write a song. Similarly, a song would be the ultimate self-expression. Think about Taylor Swift. When Joe Jonas broke up with her through a phone call, something that really hurt her, she wrote a song. The track, called "Always and Forever," is now included in her Fearless album.

Go enroll in a ballet class, or any dance class. One of the ways you can express yourself is through your body. You can channel every emotion: pain, grief, sadness, joy, pleasure. By the time you are done dancing your grief away, you will actually feel much better.
