An exercise program needed cost you anything more than time, determination and effort. Best of all you can workout at anytime that suits you in complete privacy!

Don't Make Excuses

It seems there is always an excuse for not working out. "I don't have time, the gym costs too much, it's too far away, etc." Well I'm here to tell you that those are not good excuses. You can get an amazing workout right at home with limited space and equipment. Here are some of my favorite tips and tools for getting fit and strong under your own roof for free!

Working Out At Home

The Floor Find a comfy section of carpet and get ready. Push-ups and crunches will go a long way to helping you get the workout you want. Make your push-ups harder and stimulate the core by bringing one leg to your chest when your arms are straight.

Stretchy Bands Handles, no handles, it does not matter. Get bands that you can change the resistance or length of to accommodate different exercises. With this simple tool and a little imagination you can mimic almost every exercise you do in the gym. Wrap them around your feet, your bedpost or anything else you can find. Power bands are like having an expensive cable machine for $20.

Exercise Ball Make everything you do more dynamic. Try to incorporate a ball into your exercises to help fire your core and those crucial little balance muscles.

Pull Up Bar Most people shy away from pull ups because they are hard, but you will get better and they are amazingly good for your strength. Is this too hard? Wrap a stretchy band around something solid above you and copy the lat pull up motion. Is this too easy? Put a dumbbell between your feet and get after it!

Music Crank some tunes and get excited, play music you love and your energy will follow! Need to stay on schedule? Make a 30-minute play list with 1-minute songs. Every time the song changes, you should be doing a new exercise. This well help you keep a great pace and keep your heart rate up!

Work Out Videos Are Great Motivators

YouTube Need some motivation or ideas? Videos are similar to working out with a motivated partner when you don't have one. They will help you work out harder, better and longer. There are tons of videos online, find some favorites and try to keep up.

Vary You Exercise Routine To Keep It Interesting

Mix It Up Not only does mixing up your work out routine keep things fun and fresh, but your body loves it, too. Getting stuck in the same old routine will make you bored and your body even more so.

The Bottom Line To get a great work out, you need to work hard! Whichever work out you do, try to do it faster and with less rest. Don't be stagnant, move from one exercise to the next with short breaks. Never say, "I don't have enough time to get a good workout." Anything is better than nothing. Before you hop in the shower, crank out as many push-ups, pull-ups and crunches you can in a row. Repeat 3 sets with minimal breaks and believe me, you'll feel good about yourself in the shower.
