Get HP Pavilion dv9000 Laptop Run Quicker
The HP Pavilion dv9000 is a high-performance, desktop-replacement laptop. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB of RAM make it a capable machine for home, business and entertainment applications. However, as with all computers, the laptop's performance slows down over time. The hard drive becomes filled with extraneous data and fragmented files; graphic-heavy applications and large software programs may require more of your laptop's memory. You can easily boost the performance and speed of your HP Pavilion dv9000 batteryin a few easy tasks.

Step2 Select the hard drive you want to clean (it's usually the "C:" drive).

Step4 In the dialog window that appears, choose which programs and files you want to remove or disable. You can click the "View Files" button to view more detailed descriptions of each category.
Defragment the Drive
Step1 Go to Start, "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools" and "Disk Defragmenter."
Step2 Select "C:" drive if it is not highlighted in the small bar under the Menu Bar.
Step3 Click "Analyze." The Disk Defragmenter will run a preliminary assessment of your hard drive to determine if the drive needs to be defragmented.
Step4 Make your selection in the window that appears: if Windows says you do not need to defragment the drive, you may click "Close." If you still want to defragment, or if Windows advises you to, click "Defragment."
Step5 Be patient, as the defragment process can take a few hours to complete.
