Get Rid Of Garage Clutter With Slatwall
Remember when you first moved into your new home
? Remember how excited you were to have a garage to keep your cars safe from the weather? Whatever happened to those days? Now you have a pile of junk that is ever growing and while you know all of the things are useful, you can never find anything when you need it you just know it is in that black hole that started out as a storage area.
To make things worse, the garage is likely to flood and collect water on the floor. Soggy cardboard boxes just don't make the best storage devices. You may have even bought a few shelves, but the size and shape often limits what you are able to realistically accomplish.
What about using slatwall to get things off the floor and easy to find? It is a fantastic way to store things that fit awkwardly elsewhere. Start by moving the most awkward items first. Those things that take up a lot of space, but would never fit on a shelf so they get piled in some corner. Rakes, shovels, brooms and other big tools can hang in an organized manner on your wall. You can put in hooks for just about anything. Hoses, leaf blowers, skis and other items can hang from the wall. Even bikes can be stored this way.
What about smaller items? There are lots of things that could fit in a box, but you would rather have them accessible and visible. Consider using a basket or rack to hold all of your sports equipment. After the balls, bats and gear have been used, they have a place to go rather than in a pile on the floor. There are probably a lot of hand tools you use often. You can get a rack that sticks out vertically, or maybe you prefer a whole grid wall of hooks dedicated to all of your tools.
There are lots of other ways to store things in your garage using slatwall. You can even get a free standing structure if that will be more helpful. Shelves are easy to install to hold all sorts of things whether stored in boxes, bags or just on their own. The important part is to be organized. Stop saying, "One day I will clean the garage" and get it done today. Once everything has its own place, your car can move back in and you don't have to dread searching for things anymore.
