Get Rid Of Your Anxiety

How much time throughout the day, do you experience anxiety

? Go ahead and count the hours. Now multiply that by the 365 days, and then again but the number of years you believe you have left on this planet. I bet you came to a large number! Wouldn't you rather spend this time feeling amazing empowering feelings, instead of the crippling feelings of anxiety? Anxiety is a learnt behaviour and anything that's learnt can be unlearnt.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is the negative feeling you get in your body, when you create negative images and internal dialog in your mind. Think of the all things that give you this anxiety. I bet you have an image in your head of things not working out the way you'd like them to work out. You may even have an internal voice inside your head that fills you with doubt and fear. If I asked you to place the most hideous picture inside your house where you saw it every day, and a CD player constantly playing a horrendous song; would you leave these in your house? So why would you create terrible pictures and sounds in your mind when they're with you constantly?

You've create these negative pictures and sounds about future events that have yet to happen. By doing this of course you're going to feel lousy. You've create these pictures and sounds so often, it's now become an automatic response; you think about the situation, you feel anxiety. As I said previously, anxiety is a learnt behaviour and anything that can be learnt, can be unlearnt. When you realize that you're in control of the way you feel, you're a step closer to getting rid of your anxiety.


How to get rid of Anxiety

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and exhale. Visualize yourself being in a place where you're totally relaxed. See what you'll see, hear what you'll hear and notice the good feelings inside your body, when you're deeply relaxed. Notice where the feelings start and in which direction they move. Spin things feelings faster as you begin to relax and feel the ease and calm spreading throughout your body. Do this for five minutes until you feel amazingly relaxed and then open your eyes.

Now close your eyes again and imagine a situation where you feel anxiety. This time I'd like you to spin those feelings of relaxation and keep spinning them faster and faster while you see yourself achieving the success you want in this situation. See yourself like you're watching a Blockbuster Movie. Make the pictures bigger, brighter and more colourful. Notice the way you move and the look on your face as everything plays out the way you want it to play out. Notice the internal dialog you hear while everything plays out successfully in your mind, and spin those feelings even faster.


As those feelings spin even faster, feel some laugher building up inside you as you realize how silly it was to feel anxiety in this situation. As the feelings of laugher builds up inside, spin them around even faster and notice yourself being drawn to that image of you succeeding. Take these good feelings and transfer them to any other situations you feel anxiety and notice how good you feel now.

Your mind changes at the neuro synaptic level when you're able to laugh at something. You allow yourself to feel a different way in the same situation. Therefore instead of feeling anxiety you can feel relaxation of laugher. When you were a kid, you learnt rapidly because you where having fun and laughing. As you became older and more serious you learnt all these negative behaviours. The great thing is now you know how to change them.

Practice this visualisation everyday for the next 3 weeks to create a new empowering habit, which will allow you to feel great!
