Not having good skin is a pain. Your personal hygiene skills almost never have anything to do with the severity of an acne problem--in spite of what others might have told you. Everybody has acne at some point in their lives.

Does the cleanser contain salicylic acid? Salicylic acid is often found in cleansers that are harder on the skin and meant for people who suffer from severe acne. For people who don't need a strong cleanser the salicylic acid content is only strong enough to do some basic cleaning and bacteria killing. Unfortunately, as you get older, your skin will become more sensitive and using salicylic acid cleansers regularly will be bad so you should save them for spot treatments later on. Seek the help of a dermatologist. Sadly, some people suffer from acne that is so severe that "regular" acne treatments simply will not work. Sometimes you need to ask a doctor for help--especially if nothing is helping to ease your acne and breakouts. Some people simply need something stronger than an over the counter cleanser and a dermatologist can provide that. Sometimes acne is caused by something else besides simple dirt and bacteria and your dermatologist will be able to tell if this is the case. Acne is not always caused by clogged pores--sometimes breakouts are the result of your genes or other health problems you might be facing. Your dermatologist will give you an exam to help figure out the exact cause of your acne and how to properly fight against it.

Protect your skin against the sun. Smearing heavy sunscreen on your skin probably seems like a bad idea, especially for people who do not want to clog their pores. Thankfully there are lots of sunscreens that are not oily.

Happily, you are no longer forced to choose between super oily sunscreens when you want to protect your skin. You now are able to choose a sunscreen that is lighter and sprayed on, which is better for your pores. Fighting against the sun is easier than ever now because your makeup and lotion probably already has SPF agents in it. Don't believe it when you hear people say that tanning prevents acne--it only increases your risk for skin cancer!

Since when do zits require treatment from super expensive creams and cleansers? Having a clean face is the easiest way to prevent breakouts. Don't be too hard with your face because your skin is sensitive! You can give your face a great cleansing without damaging your skin!
