Get Sore Muscle Pain Relief Now!
Getting sore muscle pain relief might seem almost impossible
, especially when you're in pain. However, it's actually very doable.
Here're some common ways to get pain relief, and some not so common ways. And you can start using them immediately!
Light Exercise
What?! More exercise?!
Yes, some light exercise will actually bring you some muscle pain relief. As long as you don't overdo it!
When you exercise, that increases blood flow to your muscles. This both helps those muscles get rid of waste products, and heats them up - both things that make them feel better.
So, if your legs are sore go for a jog. If your upper body is sore, do some arm swings or a few easy push-ups, or swing around a baseball bat. All of these things are exercise, but just enough to make your body feel better without making it more sore.
You'll have to find the break even point for yourself. But light exercise will definitely help.
Vitamin I?
Ibuprofen (or as it's known to runners, Vitamin I) can help your get for muscle pain relief. But it's really just a stopgap measure.
Ibuprofen is a basic NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory), as well as a pain killer. So it can help relieve some of the inflammation after exercise, and make you feel less painful. But it does not actually do anything to help heal your muscles.
The other methods here will actually help you solve the root cause of your muscle pain. Ibuprofen is helpful, but really just numbs the pain and doesn't help your body heal. I don't think it's very helpful.
So, if you have to keep moving around even when you're sore, try some Ibuprofen. But don't rely on it - you'll probably just end up hurting yourself more.
Hot Shower or Bath
A hot shower or bath can do wonders to get rid of muscle pain. I love them!
Heat helps to relax your muscles, as well as increase blood flow. These will both help muscle recovery, and assist in sore muscle pain relief.
A hot shower is also easy to do for yourself, and free! I really like those points.
But, it's not magic. It'll usually give you some instantaneous pain relief, but a few hours after the bath or shower the stiffness, soreness, and tightness will come back. Good for enduring the pain, but not perfect for really getting rid of it.
Homeopathic Remedies?
Homeopathic stuff is just bull.
Tiger Balm, Die Da Jiu, and Other Rubs
A sore muscle balm or liniment, in my personal experience, can help - but isn't the best. Basically, try it at your own risk.
See, I've used tiger balm and Chinese herbal liniments and western muscle balms (like arnica cream) to get rid of muscle pain, and I've had mixed results. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not, and frankly the science to support a lot of these rubs is underwhelming to nonexistent.
Some of the rubs cause a chemical reaction to happen that'll warm the part of your body that you rub it on, thus increasing blood flow. This is a real effect, and helps moderately - though taking a hot bath would probably help just as much.
And some of the rubs do nothing. Die Da Jiu is a Chinese liniment, with many different herbs mixed with a strong alcohol, and you rub it on the hurt part of your body. For me it doesn't help that much, and I'm personally unsure whether it's the liniment or the rubbing of my muscle that really helps (or whether it's just the placebo effect).
So, try liniments at your own risk. This is very subjective and unscientific, but you might find one that helps ease your own aches and pains.
