Yuzo Takada authored a manga in Japanese that was telecast as Blue Seed anime episodes on TV Tokyo in the year 1994. Japanese mythology served as the source of the plot of Blue Seed anime. The tale of the god Susanoo and Yamata no Orochi, the monster with eight heads was well mixed with mythological incidents to create the storyline for Blue Seed.

How Momiji Fujimiya, a descendent of Princess Kushinada turns into a secret agent, bestowed with the challenge of fighting Yamata no Orochi forms the crux of the story. It is not a hyperbole to say that watching anime episodes of Blue Seed would certainly instill mythology-based knowledge too in the minds of the viewers.

The original Blue Seed anime episodes were aired on TV Tokyo from 5 October 1994 to 29 March 1995. There were a total of 26 anime episodes download of Blue Seed. The opening theme music was later remade by Megumi Hayashibara as Carnival Babel 2003 VER. It is otherwise called Carnival Babel Revival'.

Blue Seed anime episodes for the TV version were directed by Jun Kamiya and were licensed by ADV Films. There is a set of three more anime episodes called Blue Seed Beyond anime episodes and this set was directed by Jun Kamiya and had a run time of 100 minutes. It was released in the year 1996.
