, using the right type and amount of packaging, the last thing you want is to then have to get that parcel to your nearest post office.

It might have been acceptable a few years ago that you would risk your hard work and care taken in pack the goods on a journey to the post office. It means that many of the large parcel companies, including those which offer global coverage, have the resources available to respond to short-notice collection and delivery requests. They can route their vehicles in the most cost-effective way to help them keep down their fuel consumption and the amount of wear and tear they sustain as well.

It was only relatively recently that we realised that those trips to the post office to drop off items for delivery really weren't necessary, but since this has happened, the evolution which has taken place in delivery services has not only been quick, it has also been fundamental. It has changed the way in which many businesses operate and definitely in a positive way for ever.

However, not only has it had an impact on existing businesses, it has also paved the way for many new ones to come into being. By not having to concern themselves with the logistics of making deliveries, plenty of companies have been established which don't have to take care of delivering their goods but instead can hand over all the responsibility to these new delivery giants.
