You change one letter on one of your websites and you get twice the amount of sales from that little change Wouldn't that be cool? Is that even possible?
Well YES that is possible all thanks to split testing.
A story I heard once before by the great Dan Kennedy was about a company that sold a music product through print ads (before the internet).
For months they have been using the same headline. "Put Music In Your Life." Then one day the person in charge of sending over the creative for the ad that week accidentally put the headline to read. "Puts Music In Your Life."
One single letter was all that changed and the results were just short of amazing. They doubled their sales by changing one letter. All because of a mistake!
So I ask you this Are you split testing? If not then why not?
Split testing is in my opinion the most important part of marketing online.
It doesn't have to be complicated. You can start out with just making ONE little change to the page and see what the results were compared to what they were before. Or you can use software like Google Website optimizer which is free.
But the bottom line is if you want to boost your results without having to spend a bunch more money on traffic. Then you need to test.
You just never know what is going to explode your response and conversions.
Don't just assume that because one person is doing things one way that what they are doing will work for you. Every person and every online business is different.
You need to test it for yourself!
