Get the packing right and everything else will follow
Anyone who is involved in sending packages either to addresses in the UK or to countries
on the other side of the world will know that there is one golden rule when it comes to parcel delivery that you just can't afford to forget about. Get the packing part of the process wrong and the chances are that you are going to end up with a problem.
When you're sending items off on a long journey then it is imperative that you ensure the goods that are being sent have been wrapped securely to ensure that they won't get damaged during the trip. Use poor quality packing materials or fail to make sure the parcel is tightly secured and you are asking for trouble. It is far better to spend a bit of time making sure that the consignment will reach its destination in one piece than have to worry about cleaning up the mess when it arrives in lots of little pieces.
If getting your goods to their destination safely is something that you are concerned about then make sure you get things right from the word go. To start with, you will need to make sure that you have some strong packing materials which you can use to wrap the parcel up with. Thick cardboard, strong tape and some polystyrene filling will be ideal to get started.
If you are not used to sending packages either within the UK or abroad, you might not have suitable materials to hand. If this is the case then you can easily get hold of them, either by going into town to a stationer or by using an online parcel delivery site to source them.
When you have what you need, start by wrapping items individually if they are fragile and you're sending more than one. This is to prevent things bumping into each other inside the parcel and causing damage. You can then use thick cardboard to wrap around the items and cover them with a protective layer. This will help stop damage if the parcel is thrown about in transit. Use polystyrene bits to fill up any gaps and extra pieces of cardboard to act as extra bumpers if necessary. How well you pack an item depends on what you're sending so just use your own judgment.
