Getting A Foot Up With Good Footwear In The Workplace

Standing all day long, while at the workplace

, can be a painful experience. The feet, after all, were designed for movement, not for standing. Standing in place for long periods of time can lead to serious problems such as arthritis and rheumatism. It can also cause the misalignment of the bones in the feet, causing the feet to become flat. Individuals who stand all day during work also often complain of back pain, neck pain, leg pain, and feet pain. More often than not, it is the pain in the feet that affects the individual most.

The pressure put on the feet is what causes pain in not just the feet, but also the back, the neck and the legs. Any injuries to the feet can aggravate other areas of the body. Small things such as an ingrown toenail, tired and sore feet, blisters or calluses, can cause discomfort in the feet, leading to discomfort all over the body. These are just the results of walking or standing all day long. Actual foot injuries that an individual can incur while working include spraining, cutting, or even crushing one's foot. Serious injuries such as these affect the performance of the individual in the work place, often requiring time off of work in order for the injury to heal.

Because feet are so fragile, it is necessary to take good care of them. This includes purchasing the proper shoes. Wearing improper footwear causes many of the problems working individuals have with their feet. This includes shoes that are either too tight or too loose, high heels, or shoes with little to no arch support. Other foot related problems can be caused by the environment of the job. If the individual's job is in an overly humid climate, he or she will need to wear porous shoes. If the individual wears synthetic shoes, which are not porous, it can cause athlete's foot, which is a fungal infection.

Although there are many types of accidents that can occur at the workplace that harm feet, some of them can be prevented. Finding a shoe that is comfortable is extremely important. It should have a secure fit around the individual's foot, being neither too tight nor too loose. A durable shoe is also important, especially one with a thick sole because it can act as a cushion between the sole of your foot and the ground you are standing on. The shoe should have good arch support as well. How thick the shoe itself is depends on where the individual works. If the individual works behind a counter, he or she will want something that is durable but not too heavy.

There is a new type of work shoe that can be beneficial to workers who stand on their feet for long periods of time. These are rubber shoes, such as the Bistro by Crocs. Rubber shoe companies are designing shoes specifically for workers who spend long hours on their feet. These shoes tend to be comfortable, porous, and durable.

No matter which shoe you wear, remember the value of your feet. Finding and wearing a comfortable and quality shoe that is designed for the work you do is one of the best ways to protect your feet.
