But before availing of elegant pet portraits, you need to provide a good photograph that will reflect to the end product (of course it is impossible to require your pet to pose for several hours in front of the painter). Therefore, here are some factors for you to consider before you could avail your dreamed pet portraits.

Train Your Pet With Basic Commands

Basic training does not require you to send your pet to an expert trainer. Since that you are the owner, you have to train him with some basic commands like sitting, staying, standing and lying. Obviously, this process needs patience because the mind of the pet is far different from ours. This practice will help you capture his best pose that will reflect to your personal pet portraits.

Expect Failures In The First Attempt

Pets in nature especially cats are sensitive to camera especially with a flash and sound. So, don't expect to have a perfect image with a first shot. The most possible thing to happen is that your pet will run away as you are trying to capture his image. So, it is an advice to bring your camera with you all the time. Who knows? You could possibly capture a nice pose of your pet without him knowing. But then, you have to try harder if you are dealing with a cat!

Do Not Force Your Pet To Pose

This is the common mistake of the pet owners who want to get their perfect pet portraits. Some owners bring their pet in the photography even that the animal is not in the proper mood. Forcing your pet to do a certain thing that he don't like will not give a positive result for your pet portraits. So, if you wish to get a good image of your beloved animal, just let him play and relax. Make sure that your camera is with you always to capture his multiple images. It is also a cute idea if you have an image of your sleeping cat or dog. This is great for a perfect portrait, isn't it?

Use The Natural Light

It is mentioned above that most pets hate the flash of your camera. So, it is encouraged to turn off the flash if you want to get a good shot. It is also a good idea to use a natural light rather than the artificial one so you could bring your pet in your garden or backyard in the late afternoon or early in the morning where he could play. Take it as an opportunity for your bonding as well as capturing his images for pet portraits.
