Getting Back With An Ex Boyfriend - Can You Make Things Good Again With Him?

Emotions can sometimes override your better judgement and make you do things impulsively

that may not turn out the way that you would like them to or the way that you would imagine them to. Just because you are having some thoughts about getting back with an ex boyfriend, you don't want to forget about the fact that you need to be sure that things can be good with him again. You wouldn't want to go back to someone who wasn't really going to be the best choice for you, would you?

So, how might you be able to figure out if you can make things good with him again?

1) Obviously some changes had to be made, so you have to look and see if they actually were.

Rarely does a couple break up when everything is going well. Usually it happens because there are problems in the relationship and if you are going to be able to have a chance of not just winning him back, but also in making it work, you don't want to have those problems reappear. So, I would look to see if there are any changes that have been made to indicate whether or not things will work out.

You may have needed to change your behaviors, your ex boyfriend might have been the one that needed to change, or sometimes the situation needs to change. Whatever it was, you need to look at whether or not things are really going to be a little bit different this time or if they are going to be like they were. Chances are good that if nothing has changed, you'll break up with him again, and that's not really what you are hoping for, is it?

2) Try to see if you are really just tired of being single and that is why you want him back.

You may be feeling like your ex boyfriend is the one that you want to be, but sometimes that comes back to the fact that you are kind of in a drought as far as meeting guys goes. Just because you have a lull in meeting good guys, that does not necessarily mean that you need to go back to a guy whom you used to date. There might be some better options and that is something that you need to explore before you go ahead and try to make things good with him again.

I am reminded of a friend of mine who started to think about an old flame of hers nonstop. While she was imagining that he really was the right guy for her to be with, the reality that ended up playing out suggested something different. She did get the chance to date him again, however when she did, she found out that he was not really as good as she had remembered and the real issue that she had been dealing with was that she was lonely and he seemed to be the perfect choice as far as taking that loneliness away. She'd probably would have been better off just trying to meet better guys.

3) Is he even willing to entertain the idea of trying things out one more time?

Finally, I'd say that you really need to know whether or not your ex boyfriend is into the idea of you and him getting back with one another. If you find that he seems to have no interest in that happening at all, then you may be better off trying to find someone else. Or, you may just not be timing things right with him and at a later time you might find that he is more receptive to the idea of working things out.
