Getting More Out Of Your Staff

You want to get all that you can from the people that work for you

. They are probably the single largest expense that you have in your business. It is important that they are doing as much as they can for your business. They are so important because they are really the backbone of your business. If they are happy then everyone that visits your company is likely to be happy too.

You need to make absolutely sure that your employees are aware that you value them and what they do for your company. You need to think of some ways to show them that they are special to you. It does depend on the sort of business you have and the type of employees too. If most of the group you have is married and they rush out of work to collect children and run by the grocery before heading home, they won't be thrilled by you having them stay late to have dinner.

You can ask more of them when you are giving more yourself. If you take care of them they will do the same for you. You can give them incentives to reach certain goals. For example have some fine promotional items made up and displayed. Make sure it is very clear what they need to do to get these items. There are plenty of nice things that will motivate them to do more.

You might want to try and get more sales from them or even referrals. If you can have them collect referrals from customers that they have an affinity with it would be really great for business. There could be rewards for the customer who gives the referral and for the employee that acquires it. You will be amazed by the increase in your business from referrals.


For some companies having a big goal for the whole office will work wonders. You can do small things just to get people excited about working in general too. Doing simple things like having contests and giving prizes for the best decorated desk for a particular holiday or even the most unusual dish at the weekly potluck office lunch. When you can get your employees excited they will feel that the job has more value and that they want to do more to keep their jobs.
