Getting Multiple Listings On the First Page of Google by:Brian Nelson
A lot of focus has traditionally been on optimizing a single website to appear for a given search term on Google and other search engines
. However, very few discussions lately have focused on the use of various keyword-specific landing pages to achieve top search engine ranking for a given target search term. As it turns out, creating keyword-specific landing pages may actually be a much simpler way to achieve a first page listing on google without having to spend countess hours optimizing every page within a site. In point of fact, you can use the landing page and sites created to promote that landing page to dominate the links returned for your target search term.
To demonstrate the point, google the term "Expired Listing Leads." Depending on the current spider schedule, at least four of the websites returned in the search will be linked to the website
http://www.theredx.com/signup/4mysales.html which is a specific landing page for the RedX expired listing lead service. Another example would be to google the term "prenatal vitamin chew" Overwhelmingly the returned links point to the Bloom'en Nutrition prenatal vitamins.
So what are the steps to achieve multiple links on the first page of google? The two terms above are good examples, but let's use the following search term and process as an example.
First and foremost, choose a search term that has a relatively large amount of traffic, is a term routinely used by your target demographic, and does not have a significant number of competing pages. The example that I have chosen to use is the term Agents Online which is specific to the real estate market. The term Agents Online which receives about 11,000 searches per month according to google's keyword tool and if you look at the pages returned, most have a relatively low page rank. As such, it should be pretty easy to outrank those pages with minimal work.
Once you have found your target search term, register for a URL that has the exact phrase for which you are optimizing. When choosing the URL, it is best to have the exact term with no additional words or characters and no spaces, hyphens or other characters in the page address. As an example, I have registered the URL
http://www.agentsonline.org Next, you simply create a three or more paged landing site that links to your home page. For this example, I have taken data from one of our existing real estate sites, Real Estate Country and repurposed the text for the Agents Online website.
Because the Agents Online site is an example of a process, I have kept the site pretty basic. It does link however to the RedX expired listing lead system described above. When using this technique on your own website, you should consider matching the look and feel of your landing page to that of your target home site. Also, don't forget to employ best practices for search engine optimization of the pages and associated text.
Now just because you have a website do not expect that people are just going to find you. It is true that Google puts emphasis on the URL, but it also puts a high emphasis on links to your site from other sources. With that in mind, you need to consider creating as many good backlinks as possible. In looking back to our Agents Online example, I created a squidoo lens focused on the term Agents Online and bookmarked the page on StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us. Next I registered a blog on Blogger for the term Real Estate Agents Online. We also posted links to the Agents Online page on a number of online social networks that serve our target demographic.
After creating the pages with the associated backlinks, you need to remember to submit those pages to different pinging sites to make it easier for the search engine spiders to find your sites.
Essentially, that is it. If done correctly, over a three or four week period you should start seeing various sites linking to your home page pop up. It may take longer for your actual page to show up, and in some cases it may not work. Back to our example, google the term Agents Online and count how many links go back to
http://www.agentsonline.org or see if there are more listings for Bloom'en Nutrition under the term Prenatal Vitamin
