Getting To Know About Gun Safety
Gun has evolved from a mid fourteenth century root word 'gunne' which is defined as an apparatus used in warfare that throws rocks and missiles
. In modern terminology a gun is a device which has a tubular barrel at one end and a breech at the other end that directs the projectile towards its trajectory. Today the term "gun" is being used in its generic meaning, by which it refers to any type of hand-held and trigger-initiated equipment that usually comes with an extending bore.
In China in the 9th century the gun powder was created for the first time and during the 12th century the firearms were invented. The firearms before the turn of the 20th century were very different from what we have today. Today the contemporary classification of firearms is as follows: military firearms, auto cannons, artillery guns, training and entertainment guns, hunting guns, tank guns, machine guns, and hand guns.
The people who handle the firearms should be trained in gun safety. For this there are different rules that one has to keep in mind when being gun safe. The gun handlers foremost should be aware of the destructive capabilities that a gun possess so that gun is not taken casually.
In this respect gun storage plays a very important role: the way a gun is stored can cause the difference between life and death. For this purpose the gun owners should unload and lock the gun away. They should keep in mind to store the ammunition separately and hide the keys from the children.
The nozzle should be out of range of the non targets. This should not mean that keep the nozzle's direction on the sky or on to the ground. On the ground the accidental discharge will cause fragments that might be fatal to fly at people and on the sky would be dangerous when the bullet falls back and hits anyone.
The firearm should be in the direction of clearing barrels which are containers filled with sand. The firearm should not be cleared in front of non targets. This puts them in the way of accidents.
To prevent a discharge from a loaded gun it's very important that you keep your gun away from the trigger. Fingers could pull off the trigger due to involuntary body movements that may arise from muscle spam, a sneeze, or someone's jerk. So unless and until you are ready to fire, do not think about touching the trigger.
It is also very important to make sure where your target is and what is behind or near the target. If the target is putting a non target into danger then it is advisable not to shoot to put the non target's life at risk. By implementing these safety controls accidents caused by unintentional shooting would be greatly reduced.
