Gift Ideas For Him That He Won't Be Expecting

Regardless of who it is you are buying presents for

, it can be really tricky to buy something that the lucky birthday boy or girl will not be in any way expecting. We have all been there even if you are not able to guess the specific details of a given present, you can usually make an educated guess at what might be lurking behind that God-awful wrapping paper. Admittedly the reason for this is sometimes particularly uninspired wrapping that practically screams at you what's 'hidden' underneath it, typical examples of this being bottles, bicycles and almost any sports equipment.

A lot of the time, however, the reason that it is so easy to guess what will be underneath all of that wrapping paper is that people tend to give and receive the same sorts of presents every single year. Whenever a friend or loved one's birthday rolls around we dutifully trek down to our local high street, wander around for an hour (or three) in the vain hope of finding something unusual or original and then eventually, somewhat deflated, settle for one of the predictable and standard gifts that people across the country have been swapping for years and years.

We are all familiar with the type of thing I am talking about here. For women such standard gifts are items such as jewellery, matching sets of scarves and gloves, pashminas, scented candles, perfume and pre-packaged gift sets of toiletries that claim to smell like vanilla, citrus fruits or exotic flowers such as jasmine and ylang-ylang.

For men the list is even more predictable and uninspiring, comprising of such treats as toiletries and aftershave, CDs, DVDs, jumpers, books and the much loved novelty socks. It is a well known fact that people always struggle more when buying gifts for the fellas as opposed to the ladies and this is particularly true when you limit your shopping expeditions to the local high street. Whereas typical high street shops will generally provide at least vaguely decent presents, gift ideas for him are not usually as forthcoming. Shops just do not tend to provide us with endless little boxes of already gift-wrapped goodies for the gents, which is why we so often end up wrapping ever-so-exciting presents such as four-packs of beer or bottles of wine.

You could of course argue that whilst such presents are rather uninspiring, they are all useful in their own right and so make for great presents after all. The thing is though, no one really wants to get a horde of presents on their birthday that will 'come in useful' ie. novelty socks or a new tie. For our birthdays we want surprises gifts that are fun and unexpected and that we would not in a million years have been able to predict! Not a lot to ask for, surely?!

So where do you go to find great gift ideas for him that he won't be expecting? Well, not the local high street, that's for sure! Whilst the high street is certainly useful for some shopping expeditions, its downfall is that it can only stock a finite amount of different items and this number of items will always be minute when compared to the vast amount of great gift ideas for him that are floating around on the internet. The beauty of the internet is that within a few moments and just a few clicks, you will no doubt be able to locate a huge number of great gift ideas for him, the likes of which you would never have found at your local shopping centre. What is more, shopping on the internet means no car parking fees and no sore feet, as you can happily shop away in the comfort of your home, or even from the comfort of your own bed!

One example of a fantastic gift ideas for him that can be found on the internet is gift experience days. There are a huge variety of gift experience days out there and you will certainly be able to find something to suit the birthday boy in question! If your fella is mad about cars, for example, then he will surely love the Ferrari circuit driving experience or even the ultimate formula 1 driving experience. Those with an adventurous streak might all get a thrill from a military driving experience, a day of monster truck driving, or even the chance to race dumper trucks! Guys with their heads in the clouds, on the other hand, will surely love tiger moth flying lessons or the Top Gun experience bulldog flying session.

If you are looking to buy something a little less extravagant, then there are lots of other great gift ideas for him floating around on the internet. How about the much loved Sun Jar, a personalised calendar, a build your own miniature Lamborghini kit or even a hamper of retro sweets!
