What they were attempting to do was to make the customer feel special. They tried to inculcate into their staff the disposition to behave, that even if the customer is not right, show them as if they are.

Until the recent years, the phrase is still commonly used. In fact, the customers try to use it in certain cases as their defense when they were not able to achieve the satisfaction they expect on the service or the product of the business establishment. They cling on it assuming that the money they spent will be reimbursed. Some establishments nevertheless return the money back to the customers but others rather allow to change the product with the same or equivalent item. Businessmen are gaining knowledge on how to deal different situations such as this. They have somehow developed particular store policies and let their customers be aware of it so that both parties can avoid future discrepancies. But they try to be as delicate as possible with their rules to win the loyalty of their customers. Definitely businessmen do not want a single customer to turn his/her back from them. Because the customer is the key reason why a business keeps on rolling in the market.

A businessman is happy to see a customer who keeps on coming back to his store. By some means, he is thankful that there is someone who patronizes his products and services. Out of his wasted blood and sweat, that is the fruit he satisfactorily want to see. In bigger establishments, the gush of customers going in and out from the store is such a fulfilling goal a businessman is joyful to achieve. It is because, the income also gushes in to his account making him a millionaire. However, the business world should not just always be a one-way traffic. Not all the time, only the businessman receives the reward. Customers deserve to receive something in return from them.
