Giovanni da Nola name was Giovanni Merliano (Nola, 1488 - Naples, 1558) was an Italian sculptor and architect who worked mainly in Naples in the sixteenth century. Besides the Spanish artists active in the early sixteenth century as Diego De Bartolomeo Ordonez Siloam and that helped to create a true school of Renaissance sculpture, Whiting was able, with Girolamo Santacroce, merge the elements of art fourteenth century with the influences from Michelangelo from Rome.
