Give Megan Fox A Break

One of my favorite aspects of following the movie website/blog and fanboy communities is watching how quickly the tide turns on stars

. One minute, Christian Bale is the greatest actor to ever live and every major role should go to him so he can turn it down. Then a clunker like T4 hits and all of a sudden, Bale is one dimensional and overrated. The tide shifts faster for actresses and Megan Fox is beginning to learn that. But before you jot down in your diary that you hate her and she's an insufferable bitch, remember that she's a product of what you and I have created. Her over-saturation in the media and her off-putting remarks are our fault, not hers.

Let's try to paint the scenario; imagine you're 20 years old. You're uneducated but attractive, and have been your whole life. You really don't have any direction or anything you want to do, you're just coaxing by on your good looks. Then one day, you "perform" for a big-time director and get cast in a big budget movie. Next thing you know, you're famous. At this point, everyone is telling you how beautiful you are. You can literally point at people and instantly sleep with them. Virtually every man and woman in the world would amputate a limb for the chance of spending one night with you. And the best part...not many people would disagree with that.

So how do you not let that get to you? Hell, I had a coworker tell me I was the best driver he'd ever seen and the next few carpools were miserable for everyone but me. I can't imagine every writer/blogger and fan hailing me as the most beautiful human on the planet. How does someone even begin to cope with that kind of praise? If I ever get the chance to ask Ms. Fox a question, that will be it. Of course, I think we all know I won't be able to talk and the best I'll be able to do is mumble a "hi" or a "heehfeeheheeh" and then squeal like a girl.

But seriously, the tide is already beginning to turn against Megan Fox. She's handled her new found fame somewhat admirably, but America enjoys a quick fall from stardom more than they enjoy a quick rise. In Megan's case, she has nowhere to go but down and even though she's a decent actress, she's not going to win an Oscar. She'll be the eye candy in movies like TRANSFORMERS and JONAH HEX, but that's going to last another 3-5 years, max. So before we start trashing her for whatever selfish and insecure reason we have, let's enjoy her presence in Hollywood and take her comments with a grain of salt. Even though I'm sure she's unbearable in real life, I enjoy hearing her "tell it like it is" in interviews and I enjoy watching her give those interviews even more.
