I just want to jump into that image, scoop him up in my arms, and run him to safety, warmth, health, comfort, and happiness.

But for the children on our cold and dirty streets, this is seldom an option, as they do not have loving parents to rescue them. And in all reality, they don't have anybody whatsoever. Their parents may be deceased... or in prison... or hopelessly strung out. Worse yet, a handful of these girls and boys were actually thrown into this predicament by their mothers or fathers, who prostituted them out for drugs. Please note, this is NOT as rare as you may think. Most of these kids are good kids who just never really had a chance.

Okay, I get it! But how can we actually help these poor kids?
