I have seen many, many changes in the outlook for web design in Cambridge since starting this profession
. When I first started there was a wave of customers interested in web design services based local to Cambridge.
However demand has dropped over the years and conversely the number of so-called web design experts has increased. This has led to a bottle-neck situation.
I am glad that I established my business back in the days when demand was still climbing as this allowed me to develop my skills, client list and network.
I feel sorry for those pursuing a career as I feel to get established in modern day web design in Cambridge would take some doing; given the saturation of web designers to market.
Of course the cream always rises to the top. So it is important that anyone wishing to pursue a carer in web design are not put off by the competition. If you have the talent and want something hard enough - as with any profession you have to seek a way to get involved.
There are many people who do day jobs to earn the money to survive while they attempt to find work in the profession they seek.
However with web design it has to be accepted that there was a boom, which provided copious opportunities for aspiring web designers. Now that time has come to a pause, one must work even harder.
There are plenty of books on web design which could be used to improve one's skill set.
There are plenty of courses where you can learn invaluable web design techniques.
The good news is that the web now established will never go away. For good designers there will always be scope for web design and updates and revamps.
The web will also become more apparent on TV as well as mobile applications.
One of the problems with establishing a web design business in Cambridge is there are a lot of clever people. Plenty of people interested in Computers etc
There is competition in any trade. I live across the road from a plumbers and noted that they are not so busy with dreaded arrival of this economic crisis in Britain. But you can plough through the pages of the yellow pages and you will hundreds of adverts for plumbers.
So there is just as much competition for the less 'glamorous' jobs. Its the same for any career. It really is. You have to be prepared to really put the work in to your web design projects.
The good thing about the competition is it raises the quality of the end product. You have to surpass the competition in order to survive. Its a good way of weeding out those who simply do not have the commitment or motivation to go all the way to the top! These are hard times for some people and I wish them the very best of luck.
